Germantown, Battle of
битва при Джермантауне
Произошла во время Войны за независимость [War of Independence] в Пенсильвании 4 октября 1777. Армия Дж. Вашингтона при попытке отвоевать район Филадельфии и окружить англичан у р. Скулкилл [Schuylkill River] атаковала укрепленные позиции генералов Бергойна [Burgoyne] и Корнуоллиса [Cornwallis]. Атака была отбита и Вашингтону пришлось отступить, не потеряв орудий и даже захватив трофеи. Он произвел впечатление на французов как стратег, и сражение во многом способствовало решению Франции сблизиться с американцами
